    The Stranglers came to be an influential band in the British punk and new wave scene of the mids. The group that eventually formed between –75 was originally named the Guildford Stranglers, but they soon dropped the geographical prefix and the name, The Stranglers, was registered as a business on 11 September by etnirutadire.piebeuastarenoxadetupaptothatmo.co: Punk rock, pub rock, new wave, post-punk.

    THE STRANGLERS were unique in their style then, but their sound owes much to THE DOORS, which again shows punks' many styles in which you take your influences & create something new. Punk was never about being pigeonholed into one particular sound & style, of which was lost during the 2nd wave of punk whern all the bands became copies of each.

    The inspiration behind The Stranglers' first hit single, "Peaches," was from when the band lent their PA to a "sound system" event in etnirutadire.piebeuastarenoxadetupaptothatmo.co reggae music they heard that day proved to be infectious, which led to JJ Burnel coming up with the song's trademark bass line.
